Yoga for Self and Society: International Yoga Day Insights

The theme of this year’s World Yoga Day, which falls on June 21, 2024, is Yoga for Self and Society. It is essentially a spiritual practice that uses very subtle science to try and bring the mind and body into balance. It is the art and science of living a healthy lifestyle. The term yoga comes from the Sanskrit word “Yuj,” which means “to join,” “to yoke,” or “to unite.”

It is said that It was first practiced at the very beginning of civilization. Thousands of years ago, long before the first religions or belief systems emerged, people developed the science of yoga. According to yogic mythology, Shiva is regarded as the original yogi (Adiyogi) and the original guru (Adi Guru).

Yoga can address a wide range of health issues. It has many benefits for both mental and physical health. For people who have lower back pain, It is equally as beneficial as basic stretching in terms of reducing discomfort and improving range of motion. By reducing stress and inflammatory indicators all throughout the body, regular yoga practice may help support healthy hearts. It is also helpful in treating obesity and high blood pressure, two other conditions that lead to heart disease.

For mental health, or, you can say, mental peace, you can meditate. Everyone can benefit from its ability to reduce stress, Stress is which negatively impacts the body and mind. These are the only few benefits of yoga, but here are many more.
