1. Phulchoki Hiking

Phulchoki at 2,762 meters, is the tallest hill in the Kathmandu Valley and is situated towards Godavari. It is an ideal location for environment enthusiasts as we pass by dense forests, historic towns, and places of worship. It takes us around seven hours to finish the hike. The highlight is when we reach the peak and see the breathtaking view of the valley below. The Phulchoki hike gives us a chance to observe the distinct flora and fauna of Nepal’s forested hills, which include uncommon bird species like the Satyr Tragopan and the Himalayan Monal.

2. Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park

The second-highest peak is Shivapuri, which is situated towards Budanilkantha and is a fantastic place for hikers like us to get away from the bustle of the city. We can see the breathtaking view of the Kathmandu Valley, verdant woods, and wildlife along the route. We will need about six hours to reach the Shivapuri Peak. It is a protected area and is home to a network of well-maintained trails, perfect for a short hike. We should also keep an eye out for the park’s diverse wildlife, including deer, monkeys, and exotic bird species.

3. Jamacho Hiking

Nagarjuna is also referred to as Jamacho Hiking, it is a well-liked trekking location near Naya Bus Park, Kathmandu. We can get the views of the neighboring hills and along the way, we can enjoy the freshness of the forest. An approximate 7-kilometer hike takes about three hours to complete. It’s the ideal location as we reach a religious place for Buddhists and can enjoy the valley’s view. The hike is ideal for those seeking a quick yet demanding hike that is conveniently located near the city.

4. Champadevi

Champadevi is a scenic hill located near the Pharping area. We can enjoy the freshness of nature and view prayer flags waving in the breeze as we hike to the summit. The hike takes three to four hours to complete. We believe it to be an exciting trek with beautiful views of the valley below and the Himalayan range, all conveniently close to the city.

5. Kakani

Another scenic hiking spot is Kakani, which is 23 kilometers north-west of Kathmandu. We can see breathtaking views of the Annapurna, Manaslu, and Ganesh Himal. Hiking from Kakani to Bhanjyang takes about four hours and covers roughly 8 kilometers of landscape. We will have an unforgettable experience as we can enjoy the villages, rhododendrons, and forests. It is one of the best places for us to enjoy the breathtaking scenery, or just relax and take in the peace.
