Summer food that will keep you cool this summer.

The temperature in Kathmandu is rising these days, and the sun is burning. There are some summer foods that will cool you down. And you will definitely enjoy these summer foods. Summer is a time when many people engage in outdoor activities and vacations and enjoy the abundance of seasonal fruits and vegetables. So if you are craving something sweet, then you can enjoy these summer foods.

These are some of the summer foods.


Hwachae is a classic Korean drink or dessert that is best savoured in the sweltering summer months. It’s a well-liked option for cooling yourself on a hot day because of its refreshing and sweet taste. It is also on trend these days.


It is really easy to make hwachae. The ingredients for Hwachae are milk, watermelon, berries, fruit of your choice, Sprite or any carbonated drink, and an ice cube.


  • Firstly, you need to add all the fruits to a bowl, or if you want to be fancy, you can use watermelon rind instead. 
  • Then add the milk and the carbonated drink. 
  • Also, don’t forget the ice, and enjoy it.

Sel Roti:


Sel Roti, also known as Nepali donut,  A well-known snack in Nepal is famous for its crisp outer layer and slightly sweet inner part. You can enjoy it any time of the year, such as in the winter with the hot tea and in the summer with the yogurt.

It is a bit time-consuming, but in the end, it is all worth it. The ingredients for Sel Roti are 2 kg of rice, ripe bananas or sugar, milk, oil or ghee, and cardamom powder.


  • Firstly, grind the overnight-soaked rice into the batter.
  • Then add banana, sugar, and cardamom to it. 
  • You can change the consistency of the batter by adding milk to it.
  • Then pour the batter in a circular motion to obtain the ring shape.
  • Fry until golden brown and crisp.
  • And enjoy your sel roti with some yogurt.

Chia seed pudding:

Chia seed pudding is an absolute summer food. Its delicious pudding is also very adaptable and refreshing, which makes it the ideal treat for hot weather.

It is a simple recipe that is delicious at the same time. The ingredients for chia seed pudding are milk, chia seed, and a sweetener like honey or maple syrup. 


  • Take a container and add milk, chia seed, and sweetener.
  • Mix it well.
  • Then refrigerate it overnight.
  • Now you can enjoy your chia seed pudding in the morning.

Yogurt Bowl:

A yogurt bowl is the perfect summer snack that will keep you cool and help you recover from the heat of summer. 

For making a yogurt bowl, you need yogurt, fruit of your choice, and any sweetener.


  • Keep the yogurt in the bowl and top it with the fruits.
  • If you want, then you can add a sweetener to your wish.
