We are watching some classics Nepali movies for a cozy weekend while snuggling in bed with popcorn. What could anything else go wrong? 1 Saino

Saino, released in 1988, is one of Nepal’s most beloved films. Ugyen Chopel directed this film, which features Danny Denzongpa, Bhuwan KC, and Tripti Nadakar. Suna Katha Euta Geet, Naya Naya Sajau Hai Sansara, and Aamaile Bhanthin Dhaarako Paani are among the songs by Danny together with Asha Bhosle and Udit Narayan Jha. The plot hinges on the main characters’ friendship.

2 Kusume Rumal

Tulsi Ghimire directed the 1985 romance film Kusume Rumal. The film stars Neer Shah, Bhuwan KC, Tripti Nadakar, and Udit Narayan Jha. In addition, this was the first film in which vocalist Udit Narayan Jha appeared. The film is almost two hours long and tells the narrative of three college friends, Amar (Udit Narayan Jha), Suniti (Tripti Nadakar), and Arjun (Bhuwan KC). This film performance was a great box office hit at the time, and it was the first Nepali film to hold the top spot in weekly revenues for a continuous 25 weeks. Ranjit Gazmer, a well-known musician, composed the soundtrack. Famous songs from the film include Kusume Rumal and Suna Bhana Na.

3 Deuta

You’ve probably heard the phrase “Shankar hu ma Shankar” from someone or seen it on social media. This famous dialogue came from the film Deuta, which starred the Nepali film industry’s Mahanayak, Rajesh Hamal, as well as Srijana Basnet, Shrawan Ghimire, Yuvaraj Lama, and Tulsi Ghimire. This love triangle film was released in 1991 and celebrated 51 days at several Nepalese theaters.

4 Dakshina

Dakshina, directed by Tulsi Ghimire in 1994, is regarded as one of the best Nepali films ever. This film is also intended as a gift (Dakshina) for Ghimire’s mentor, Kamlakar Karkhanis. Tulsi Ghimire appears in the film alongside Bhuwan KC, Niruta Singh, Bharati Ghimire, and Rajaram Poudel. The plot revolves around the life of a philosophical teacher who constantly lectures his students about becoming decent person and his students’ lives. Ranjit Gazmer returns as the film’s music composer, with soundtracks sung by the great Narayan Gopal.

5 Chino

Chino is yet another excellent Nepali film. Tulsi Ghimire directed the film, which stars Shiva Shrestha, Bhuwan KC, Kristi Mainali, Sharmila Malla, Tulsi Ghimire himself, and Sunil Thapa. Sunil Thapa’s character in Rate Kaila is a well-known Nepali film character still spoken about today. The film is 138 minutes long and contains all the features an engaging film should have. It includes action, a tale, romance, humor, and, most importantly, fantastic music. Asha Bhosle and Narayan Gopal collaborated on songs such as Mohani Laagla Hai and Maya Ta Maya Ho, which are still popular today.

6 Darpan Chhaya

Darpan Chhaya is a well-known Nepali film that is still spoken about today. The film broke all box office records and went on to become the highest-grossing Nepali film of all time, generating Rs.17.5 million. Niruta Singh, Dilip Rayamajhi, and Uttam Pradhan star in the film. This is a love triangle film about three friends, and the plot revolves around their journey of friendship, love, and sacrifice.
