A Feminist Book Mela

Get your Saturday a quick tour to embrace female authors. To support and connect with Nepali Female writers. A Feminist Book Mela and Nepal Picture Library are collaborating to host The Feminist Memory Project Book Mela at the Nepal Art Council in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, this Saturday. The event will shine a spotlight on the works of various Nepali female authors, scholars, artists, bookmakers, and publishers.

Since 2018, Nepal Picture Library has been gathering photographs and other archival materials. They aim to establish an inclusive visual repository of feminist experiences in Nepal. Originally conceived as an exhibition titled ‘The Public Life of Women: A Feminist Memory Project’, the initiative showcases curated selections from the archive. Compiled from contributions by over 150 individuals and organizations, a photobook bearing the same title was unveiled late last year. The Feminist Memory Project Book Mela seeks to bridge the divide between women writers and their audience. While fostering connections and celebrating women’s literary contributions. This book fair serves as a tribute to female voices in literature. Along with that, it coincides with the celebrations of Women’s History Month in March.
